August Game Releases: Part 2
Dive deep, fly on a broom, and parkour(!) in these ten games, releasing August 16 to 31.

Not all demos end up as full games. A fair number of titles in AIIG's archives have yet to approach anything close to a release date. That's frustrating because a game wouldn't receive the spotlight if it didn't have potential, and it's sad not to see that potential become a more complete game.
But now and then, even a long-awaited game finally makes its debut. The last half of August has two: Plank Builders,which we covered just under a year ago, and Mika & The Witch's Mountain,the first game AIIG previewed. These two and eight other games made the roundup for games to consider in the last half of August. Hopefully, you find something to buy or wishlist!

Feed the Deep (16 August)
How deep can you go in this procedurally-generated exploration game? The passion project of a very experienced and successful developer who decided to go solo, dive down forbidding caves in Feed The Deep, as you manage your oxygen, the darkness, and the creatures that lurk there, a hint of the game's light horror undertones (or is that undertows?).

CyberCorp (20 August)
Crime syndicates have overrun the megacity of Omni-City, so the mayor turns to Cybercorp and its private military for justice. But that's likely just basic framing to step into this war against crime as a Cybercorp fighter called The Synth, mowing down tons of enemies in this fast-paced looter shooter. Explore CyberCorp's stunning cyberpunk world solo or co-op, upgrading your gear with a slick card-based system that promises a variety of combat styles and weapons.

Mika and The Witch's Mountain (21 August)
Mika has her heart set on becoming a witch's apprentice! But she'll never make it up the witch's mountain without a better broom, so the little go-getter starts delivering packages and completing tasks for the residents of a delightful coastal world full of hidden wonders. Fly around and find them in Mika and The Witch's Mountain, a vibrant and cheerful adventure that brings back the spirit of classic sandbox adventure games.

Tactical Breach Wizards (22 August)
Lead your team of outlaw wizards against law enforcement, shady magical private militaries, and much more as they track down an uber-squad out to end the world. Each wizard brings a special set of magical skills to the fight in this turn-based tactics game, which players can adjust further for unique combat styles. It's this blend of magic-meets-modern combat and its tongue-in-cheek attitude that makes Tactical Breach Wizards stand out in the crowded tactics crowd.

Beyond Hanwell (25 August)
Beyond Hanwell is the latest in a steady parade of horror games that use Unreal Engine 5's detailed realism and atmospheric lighting, and it's one of the best-looking and most unsettling yet. Though this is a sequel of sorts to 2017's Welcome to Hanwell, you don't need to have played that game. Instead, this feels like the developers taking another stab at a similar game, but with more experience and a big leap in visual fidelity.

Koboo: The Tree Spirit (27 August)
Koboo: The Tree Spirit is a high-stakes roguelite brawler where you tackle bosses many times larger than you. Dodge their attacks and land yours with deadly accuracy, built through customised skill trees. Koboo also has a Metroidvania strand, unlocking more areas as you progress and gain skills. Just don't expect to button-bash your way through this one.

Supermoves (28 August)
2008's Mirror's Edge was an oddity of its time, bringing first-person parkour gameplay to the masses. It only took sixteen years, but we finally have an online multiplayer parkour game where you compete against others to get across massive, outlandish obstacle courses. Supermoves looks polished, and the gameplay videos of its races feel fun and intense. Are we at the start of a new type of massive competitive game? This game might just make that happen.

Akimbot (29 August)
Exe and his unwelcome sidekick Shipset manage to escape on their way to jail, but that's just the start of their problems in this action-packed 3d platformer. Exe is handy with his firearms and hacking skills, and Shipset is, uh, chatty. Together, they are thrust into an intergalactic conspiracy that could destroy their robot civilisation. The result is Akimbot, a fun play on words AND a fun-looking adventure with plenty of combat across various colourful and unique planets.

Plank Builders (29 August)
Help unite toy monkeys in this delightful, head-scratching physics-puzzle platformer with auto-builder elements. As a tiny toy, you must traverse giant stages like a child's bedroom, trying to reach and awaken all your toy brethren. However, you cannot touch most surfaces, so you construct pathways with small wooden planks. Each monkey you awaken becomes a builder—lay out your blueprints, and your army of construction simians will diligently complete them with planks, helping you reach new areas.

MEMORIAPOLIS (29 August)
Many city builders occur in historical settings, and at first glance, you might think that MEMORIAPOLIS does the same. But this game instead takes the best ideas from that subgenre, letting you create a new ancient metropolis with elements from many different ancient cultures. Grow your settlement from a humble village at the end of the copper age and try to reach the heights of the Renaissance period. Work your cunning through trade and diplomacy, and build and evolve an organic-looking city over 2,500 years.
